American Silver Eagles - An Investment Worth The Price

The United States Mint, over the years, has earned a reputation for producing some of the most beautifully designed coins in the world. Most are created as official currency, while some are mainly collectible. The most famous and most highly regarded coin is the American Silver Eagle Coin.

Back in'86, the minting of the American Silver Eagle coin began. This coin was a spin off of the Adolph A. Weinman "Walking Liberty" half dollar. The Walking Liberty was minted in the United States from'16 to'47. This coin's signature was the "AAW" mark that was found under the eagle's wing on the backside of the coin. The Walking Liberty is valued at 50 cents.

These are the only coins whose weight and purity that the U. S. Government guarantees. The design is based on the'16 half dollar from Adolph Weinman known as the "Walking Liberty." This Weinman coin is another coin that was minted by the United States from'16 -'47. This coin is valued at 50 cents and has Weinman's "AAW" mark appearing on the back side under the eagle's feathers on its wing.

The Silver Eagle is the world's most best selling silver coin. Since the first minting, more than-0 million coins have been sold. These coins are minted to exact qualifications and specifications. The Silver Eagles weight and purity is guaranteed by the United States government. They officially are the silver bullion coin of the United States. In each coin is a minimum of one troy ounce of pure 99. 9% silver.

These coins are the only type of silver coin allowed in an IRA investment account. The prices of these coins are based off market value for silver plus an additional amount to make sure minting and distribution costs are covered.

There are three versions of the Silver Eagle coin. The first version is the regular bullion version. This version is available from authorized coin dealers and bullion dealers. The second version is the collectible proof. This version is the version available each year directly from the United States Mint. This version comes with a protective case and a certificate of authenticity from the Mint. The third version is the uncirculated or burnished version. This version is the most recent version and has the "W" mint mark and is struck on burnished specialty blanks.

The American Silver Eagle coins are a favorite among precious metal investors and coin collectors. These are very easy to buy and sell at most coin, precious metal and brokerage companies. Collectors tend to collect theses coins by their series dates, often assembling collections of the entire series run.
